My LLB bachelor's degree and LLM master's in Maritime Law were completed at Buckinghamshire New University, UK, through IDM campus in Sri Lanka. It was a great and memorable experience. “Today marks a new beginning of our lives” graduates have been told, as the IDM Nations Campus International class of 22/2023 celebrated at the annual Graduation event, which held on 11th November 2023 at BMICH.
The event comprised two ceremonies, one in the morning for International Higher Diploma achievers and one in the afternoon for graduates from Doctoral to undergraduate degrees in the areas of Law, Management, Computing, Education and Psychology, and celebrated students who completed their courses in the 2022-23 academic year. Family members, supporters, guests, governors, employees, and friends assembled at each ceremony to watch the assembled graduands become graduates.

IDM Nations Campus, Chairman Dr. V. Janagan addressed the graduation with his insights on “Nurturing legal experts in Sri Lanka is a Source of strength not a burden”.
He noted: “I see it as a one-side activity to impose obstacles by requiring special entrance examination with a cutoff for students who have invested their time and money in foreign universities approved by the Sri Lanka legal education council”.

Where he further stresses that, “. How ever if we observe this matter from holistic viewpoint, we will conclude that standardizing three-year examination of Sri Laka Law college would be sufficient, eliminating the need for this special entrance examination”

State minister of Education Mr. Suren Raghavan participated in the International Higher Diploma awarding session in the morning as the Chief guest. He added: “Dear graduates, you are stepping into a new experience in your life. There might be challenges ahead that feel like sailing through a giant wave and wind. I hope you will equip yourself with the sail of strong confidence and solid knowledge, to face future challenges and pursue success in your destinations.
Chief guest for graduation session, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapaksha – Hon. Minister Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms addressed the graduation with the thought that, “With international vision, hardworking, awareness of social and public responsibilities, and stable development with long-term perspective, you will lead a meaningful life.”
Further, he noted, they would be graduating into a world which presents a disparate range of challenges. He added: “We are witnessing the displacement of populations through climate impacts, war or through desperation.
